The IEEE-IAS-CIC East Coast Subcommittee 2018 Technical Conference will be held Oct. 25-26 at the Renaissance Hotel in Allentown, Pa. The program will provide plant personnel with timely technical information through workshops and presentations.

The following concurrent technical workshops will be available:

  • A full day seminar on fan performance with a working model for demonstration purposes. This program is intended for production and process personnel.
  • A full day seminar on FK pump performance and maintenance with a model FK pump for demonstration purposes. This program is intended for maintenance personnel.
  • A half day workshop for plant staff and managers to explore several important plant issues, including improving MSHA relationships, working effectively with environmental regulators, and attracting and keeping talent.

Additionally, event coordinators are hosting a best practice sharing program where conference attendees and other plant personnel can submit their improvement ideas in a simple, one-page format to be shared with other attendees. Ideas submitted in advance of the conference will be judged with the best practices being recognized during the event.

The conference concludes with a bus tour focusing on the rich history of cement manufacturing in the Lehigh Valley. Tour stops include a photo opportunity at the Coplay bottle kilns, a visit to the Atlas Cement Co. Memorial Museum, and one of the four operating cement plants in the area.
