LafargeHolcim Completes Modernization of Weirton Cement Terminal

LafargeHolcim completed a multi-million-dollar modernization project that restored and expanded a cement terminal at its Weirton, W.Va., facility. The site, which had been inactive for 10 years, will now be used to store and distribute the company’s specialty well cements for the oil and gas industry in the Appalachian region.

PCA Applauds House Passage of FAA Reauthorization Act

The Portland Cement Association (PCA) commended the U.S. House of Representatives for passing a five-year reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which includes provisions supported by the cement industry. Global Cement Consumption to Rise Slightly through 2023

Global cement consumption is projected to decline marginally to 4.05 billion tons in 2018, according to CW Research’s 2H2018 update of the Global Cement Volume Forecast Report. Following a sustained slowdown in Chinese cement demand, and given the Asian giant’s weight on the overall worldwide figure, global consumption is poised to record a slim rise of almost 1 percent per year through 2023. The number increases to more than 3 percent if China is excluded.
