LafargeHolcim, Town Officials at Odds Over Proposed Air Pollution Law

Coeymans, N.Y., officials have postponed a vote on a proposed local air-pollution law that could bar LafargeHolcim’s Ravena cement plant from burning scrap tires as fuel, reported the Albany Times Union. A vote by the town board was scheduled for Jan. 10 but now the town is considering to send the measure to the Albany County Planning Board for review.

Lehigh Cement to Hold Public Meeting on Alternative Fuel

Lehigh Cement Co. will host a public meeting this month about its proposal to burn alternative fuel at its Glens Falls, N.Y., plant, reported The Post-Star. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the Adirondack Room at The Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls. Reservations are not required.

HeidelbergCement Accelerates Efforts on Portfolio Optimization

HeidelbergCement announced that it has made good progress with the acceleration of its portfolio optimization during the past weeks. The company closed the divestment of its 50 percent share in Ciment Québec and its minority participation in Syria in December 2018. In addition, a former cement plant area within the Cairo metropolitan area has been auctioned, and the divestment of the Ukrainian business has been signed. Closing of the latter transactions is expected to occur in 2019.
