PCA names first Sustainable Development Director

Portland Cement Association named David Shepherd, AIA, as director, sustainable development, effective November 1. In the newly created position, Shepherd will be responsible for developing and promoting sustainable applications for cement and concrete.

A registered architect, Shepherd joined PCA in 2000 as manager of residential technology, where he was responsible for coordination of research and training of technical issues and promotion of homes made with concrete in the U.S. market.

Shepherd's experience in the construction industry includes being co-founder/principal of a residential design/build firm, assistant vice president of a national real estate investment firm, and project manager for a commercial general contractor.
