Against a Greenbuild International Conference and Expo backdrop, Portland Cement Association Environment and Energy Committee Chairman Thomas Chizmadia discussed the cement industry's carbon dioxide emission-reduction strategy and commitment to the White House Climate Vision program. Chizmadia, who serves as vice president of communications and public affairs for Dundee, Mich.-based Holcim (US) Inc., hosted a briefing at Pittsbugh's David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
Among items he covered was PCA's proposal to allow the addition of up to 5% ground limestone in ASTM C 150 product, the subject of a current ballot among Committee C1 on Cement members.
The U.S. Green Building Council, Washington, D.C., promotes Greenbuild as the annual meeting place for green building industry professionals to learn about advances in design, construction, project financing and management.
