USGS Report Quantifies Cement Production

According to the just-released 2019 edition of the U.S. Geological Survey’s Mineral Commodity Reports, production of portland cement in 2018 in the United States increased slightly to about 85.4 million tons, and output of masonry cement continued to be stagnant at 2.4 million tons. Cement Association of Canada Decries Lack of Wood Building Safety in BC


The Cement Association of Canada (CAC) expressed surprise at the announcement by the government of British Columbia (BC) that they would bypass the ongoing 2020 National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) processes and allow municipalities to issue building permits for encapsulated mass timber construction (EMTC) up to 12 stories.
